Okay. So we´ve arrived in Lima. I´m typing this from my hotel on one of the oldest computers I´ve ever seen. Lima is interesting. The architecture is so varied due to the many different influences in the history of the whole country. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel last night at around midnight and I can see now why it´s not safe for people to walk around at night unless you´re a native/local. The streets are VERY dirty, very defensive. Got to sleep around 3am and my dad woke me up at 8am. aye.
Anyhow. There´s my update. I´m alive and in Peru. There may be more depending on how much time I have to post and how many internet cafe´s exist in Cuzco. I must admit, no matter how interesting the “city life” is here in Lima, I´m dying to get to Cuzco.
p.s. I miss my girlfriend.
Three hours to go and I’ll be on a plane bound for Lima Peru (with a quick stop in Texas). I’m not sure how much my father is bringing but I’m packing light.
Clothing:
- 1 pair jeans
- 1 pair shorts
- 1 fleece pull-over
- 1 button-up shirt
- 1 wool sweater
- 1 longsleeve shirt (heavy)
- 1 t-shirt
- 5 undershirts
- 6 pairs of socks
- 1 *NEW* pair of North Face hiking boots
- 1 *NEW* North Face beanie
Toiletries:
- toothbrush/paste
- deodorant
Misc:
- 1 copy of “How I Payed For College”
- 100% DEET bugspray
- Mini-Disc player (I’m not cool/rich enough for an mp3 player yet)
- cigarattes
… and I think that’s just about it. Wish me luck.
p.s. I’ve been dying for a good Espresso and Bianca just reminded me that Espresso uses water… and we’re not supposed to use the water in Peru for ANYTHING (bottled water only) *sigh*
I’m leaving for ten days in Peru on Friday. I just got finished watching a movie with Bianca and came in to sit on the computer and she finds this.
… not sure how this is going to affect our getting to see Machu Picchu but it’s not looking good.
*sigh*
