Sneaky bastards.

you sneaky bastards…

so i’m looking at Lumpstuff.com
i’m checking out the “shop” section. i notice the buttons are $6 (shipping included)
i think to myself. hrmn. i swear i’ve gotten orders for two packs of buttons and it came out to $10.
i click the “add to cart” button and sure enough…

… $5.
hah. i fucked up when i set up the paypal buttons. i’ve lost out on about $30 i’m sure.

… and nobody told me. harumph. i see how it is ;)
haha. i’m such a shmo.

(p.s. i’m fixing that right now.. so if anyone wants to save $2 on some buttons.. in the next three minutes you’d better get yo’ ASS to the site and order some)

Overly optimistic. Is that sin?

i sometimes wonder if i’m being overly optimistic about Lump and everything that comes with it.
i have lots of ideas but… the ideas don’t support me.

i want to thank everyone out there that is/has told SOMEONE else about Lump. it seems almost impossible though to build up an audience (of people with money). i wonder if maybe i need to start looking into getting ‘help’ from other people.. companies. that do this sort of thing for a living. companies that create/promote and sell things like “happy bunny” <— total crap in my opinion.

meh.

The first of many?

i just finished the first journal. it’s a black hardcover journal (blank pages) that is handpainted and illustrated. the journal looks ten times cooler in person (scans suck. i need to photograph it).

i’m probably going to make 10 or so of these. they are original works by me. NOT printed.

p.s. yes it comes complete with a bandaid. i’ve got one more idea that i’m going to try. it might be cute.

so what do you people think is a reasonable price for a handpainted/drawn journal considering the cost of the journal is around 10bucks. just curious. i had seen some for sale on Kurt Halsey site but he doesn’t have them up anymore.

Lumpstuff.

i added another illustration to the gallery on lumpstuff.com today. it was actually kind of fun and leaves things wide open for new ideas that are pouring into my brain at a billion miles a minute.

i did a few more illustrations today for the show on Friday. i drew up some new buttons that i’ll be packaging as “Friends of Lump #2.” i really like ‘em. the pack consists of worm, a beaver and a hedgehog. i’m trying to think of good ways to add some color to my illustrations/Lump art.

last night i also did some sketches for the ‘other side’ of Lump… ie. Grump (probably not the characters final name). but. i wanted to come up with a character that could ‘work’ with the rest of them. though as opposed to Lump, this character would be in a bad mood ALL of the time. why do i want this? because it’s good for my economy. because there is only so far that a person/artist can go with a character that is always loving and/or sad. i need a ’smartass.’ a cynic. i’m close.

i’ve also started working on a small book possibility. it would be handmade and only a run of probably 25 or so.

and i picked up a few sketchbooks and journals today that i’m going to do some lump stuff directly onto. all in all, i’m enjoying this. i’m enjoying myself. i have been busy ALL day today. from 6:30am when i started my first day at Joffreys cafe until just about an hour ago.

dammit. i’m going to have to finish this post tomorrow or something. i’m falling asleep in front of my computer. hah!!

Gallery Show? this is a first.

okay. so i’m scared shitless. this is the first time ANY of my work has been up in a gallery.
i’m a photographer who has recently taken up illustration work. my illustration work will find a place on the walls of Gallery 1906 in Tampa this Friday.

below is the information.
gallery website: Bolesta Center (Gallery 1906)

here’s the address.

1906 N. Armenia Ave.
Tampa, FL 33607

the work that i will be shown comes from my newest creation.
you can see that work here

come out. support the arts.
hope to see some of you out there :)

Lumpstuff… in a GALLERY? what?

well… i’ve got my first gallery show Friday.
i can’t decide if i’m excited or scared shitless… i think more the second one than anything.

i’ll get a 10ft section of wall so i’ve got to work on some new illustrations and look at possible framing.
i have NO idea how i’m going to fund this but i’ll work something out by Friday.

aye aye aye.

Opportunity of a lifetime

so through a friend of mine, i got a phone call today from someone who is head of a gallery show downtown. aparently she’s seen my work and would be interested in including some of it in a show next Friday. the problems here are as follows:

  • i don’t have any Lump work framed.
  • i don’t have any Lump work READY to be framed (most of the illustrations were drawn on smaller pieces of paper.
  • i don’t have the money for the $45 fee to be included in the show.. .OR the framing.
  • i start my job Monday so i don’t know how busy i’m going to be next week.

but. this is the first time any of my work has had the opporTUNITY to be in a show. i could possibly sell a few pieces. i could get the name/my name out there.

i don’t know what to do.
i need to call her back today… soon. i’m confused.
